Jewish Destination Wedding at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen

Lena and Darren Forever | Jewish Destination Wedding at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen

The heat of the tropics, the warmth of true love, and the cool vibes of a great party. Newlyweds Lena and Darren exchanged vows in a Jewish destination wedding ceremony at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen surrounded by their nearest and dearest family and friends. Touches of Mexico and a refreshing twist ending, get ready to smile and be inspired.

Why choose Mexico for your Jewish destination wedding?

“We love traveling, the beach, & Latino music and culture. We have very fond memories of visiting Mexico together twice, and we are always looking for a reason to go back. We also wanted a reason to keep our wedding festivities going for more than just one night. Our wedding allowed us and our closest friends and family to spend quality time together and celebrate for a full week, which we probably wouldn't have been able to do anywhere else.”

What made you decide on Villa La Joya Playa del Carmen as your wedding venue?

We wanted a private ceremony and party which we knew we were not going to get by having our wedding at a resort. We were looking for the perfect venue with stunning beach views, without being in the sand, while having beautiful architecture and my personal favourite nature views of palm trees and tropical greenery. Enrique the property manager was an absolutely amazing person to represent the beautiful venue. He was so flexible, kind and accommodating.

When we were doing our research and stumbled upon Villa La Joya, it was clear we didn't need to look any further and that it was the perfect venue for us. We envisioned something rustic, modern, with a creamy, rose, taupe and green colour scheme. We didn't want to overdo any florals or decor as the venue itself was so stunning.

Fave funny story of your destination wedding day?

We had seen countless videos of Villa La Joya weddings, which showed beautiful breezy evenings. As a bride who easily gets hot and sweaty, this was important if we were going to have an outdoor wedding!

We visited the venue the day before, which indeed had a lovely breeze at the back. However, our wedding happened to fall on the hottest day of the week we were there, and there was almost no breeze the night of our wedding! Some of our guests took matters into their own hands - they stripped down to their underwear and went swimming in the ocean. We thought it was such a unique aspect of our wedding, and our guests had an amazing time getting to swim. It made for some funny photos and unique memories!

Anything you would have done differently at your destination wedding?

We have never been to a wedding where people eat wedding cake, so we ordered a fairly small cake to cater to the few that would have it, and get a picture of us cutting into it. To our surprise, our guests loved the cake so much that they were asking for more, and the guests who didn't get to try it wanted to. We wish we had gotten a bigger cake so that everyone could have enjoyed it. We are still shocked about how the whole cake was eaten to this day, which speaks to the amazing work from Lali Pasteles!

Any advice for couples considering a wedding in Mexico?

I would 100% recommend a destination wedding for anyone considering it, we have no regrets about our decision. It truly was the best day of our lives.

I had quite a culture shock of many details being left to the last month prior to the wedding. We had an amazing planner who continued to reassure us that everything was going according to plan and executed an absolutely flawless day. Hire experienced vendors and trust the process!

Big gracias to Lena and Darren! Felicidades and Mazel Tov!

We send a huge thank you to Lena and Darren for choosing Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen as the venue for your beautiful destination wedding day and for taking the time to share your experience with future lovebirds. We send you the warmest wishes for a long and happy lifetime together full of joy.

Magical Wedding at Villa la Joya

ERIKA & NICK’S Magical Wedding at Villa la Joya, Playa del Carmen

Erika & Nick’s love story began in the digital realm, thanks to the wonders of technology and a successful Bumble connection. We are so happy their journey brought them to the shores of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where Villa la Joya set the scene for their unforgettable wedding story. Get ready to be inspired!

Why choose a destination wedding in Mexico?

For Erika & Nick, Mexico was the embodiment of romance, adventure, and the perfect destination for their wedding. "We wanted our wedding to be a vacation for our friends and family," Erika explains, "and Mexico was the perfect place!"

"I chose Mexico because it holds a special place in my heart," says Erika. "I've been coming here since I was a baby, and I wanted to share this incredible place with Nick."

Secret wedding location surprise: Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen

The moment Villa la Joya graced her Instagram feed, Erika tells us she had found the venue of her dreams. The villa's grand staircases, picturesque pool, and its overall magic were unlike anything she had ever seen.

"Villa la Joya was exactly what I was looking for," Erika notes. "We wanted our wedding to take place in a unique, private location, and Villa la Joya fit the bill perfectly. We kept its exact location a secret from our guests until they arrived. Driving up to the beautiful villa with the stunning floral arrangements Luis Salas set up for our ceremony was truly unforgettable!"

In their quest to let the natural beauty of Villa la Joya shine, Nick and Erika chose decor that was simple and light. "We chose flowers and accents in light blush and beige tones, with eucalyptus and pampas grass for some texture and ethereal beauty," Erika remarks.

Tears and emotions and rain on your wedding day

The wedding day was filled with emotional moments, but it was Nick's vows that truly touched the hearts of everyone present. Erika recalls, "Nick's vows were the most emotional part of the day - everyone was crying!"

We ADORE that Erika and Nick found ways to incorporate their lovely dog into the festivities, furbabies are family too. Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen is a pet-friendly wedding venue, we love animals!

The day took an unexpected turn when a torrential rainstorm decided to make an appearance during the cocktail hour. It was a moment their guests will always remember, as Erika puts it, "The thing that we will NEVER forget is the torrential rainstorm during our cocktail hour. After the storm passed, the most beautiful rainbow appeared! It was so special and a reminder that the storm will always pass."

Advice for destination wedding brides? Hire a planner!

"The only thing I would have done differently is hire a wedding planner early on in my planning," Erika admits. "I really thought my mom and I could plan everything ourselves, but the closer it got to the wedding, we realized we definitely could not!"

Laura from Oh La Love, the wedding planner they eventually hired, made a significant difference. Erika reflects, "At the end of the day, even though it rained and not everything went exactly according to plan, it was such a special day with our closest friends and family. We feel so lucky to have gotten married in truly one of the most incredible wedding venues I've ever seen. We will never forget it!"

Big thanks and all our best wishes to the newlyweds Erika and Nick

A huge gracias to Erika and Nick for inviting us to be a part of your most gorgeous wedding day. We send you the warmest wishes for a lifetime of joy and happiness together.

The Planning: Design, Vibe, and Vision

We were so happy to be part of making Jaryn and Malak’s wedding vision come to life. This dynamic couple sought a wedding that transcended trends, blending timeless elegance with modern simplicity. The chosen palette was a fusion of pristine white, delicate gold accents, touches of greenery, and subtle acrylic details. The gardens of Villa la Joya provided the perfect natural backdrop for this romantic day in paradise.

Destination Wedding Fashion: Elegance in Every Stitch

The fashion story was divine, just wow. The bride's gown, a creation from Van Der Velde, exuded a timeless charm with delicate embroidery on sheer fabric. The bridesmaids, in their matching dresses from ModaGlaBoutique, glowed in their white attire. The groom, the epitome of sophistication, donned a classic ensemble from The Black Tux, blending black and white in a nod to timeless style. The bride’s evolution to her fabulous reception look showed off her fashion flair.

The Details: Subtle Elegance by the Sea

Subtle details wove their magic throughout Villa La Joya. Golden arches adorned with tulip bloom garlands framed the ceremony, an understated yet romantic backdrop. Acrylic stands, crowned with lush florals, offered a modern welcome to guests, setting the tone for a day of incredible beauty. Villa La Joya was immaculately decorated, with touches like a gold arch adorned with florals and a contemporary neon sign that added a unique twist.

It’s all about the love: Exchanging “I Do’s” and celebrating with famil

For all the pretty details that go into a wedding, what really shines through is the love the bride and groom share. Jaryn and Malak were over the moon with each other, a tender love that shone brighter than the Mexican Caribbean sun. With a moving ceremony and a FUN reception, the couple celebrated their love with their nearest and dearest in a legendary day of amor.

The Wedding Cake: Aahhhhhhhhhmazing Sweet Celebration

The wedding cake was more than dessert; it was a heartfelt creation. A three-tiered masterpiece, each layer represented a facet of the couple's love story. From the marble cake with vanilla cream to the vanilla cake with dulce de leche, it was a sweet journey by Pasteleria Migaja.

A Timeless Modern Tale: A Playa del Carmen Wedding Story

Lavan and Souha’s Two Day Hindu Wedding at Villa la Joya

Lavan and Souha’s Two Day Hindu Wedding at Villa la Joya

One wedding day is wonderful, two wedding days are an extravaganza of joy and love. Lavan and Souha joined us at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen for a traditional Hindu wedding and a “not so traditional” wedding day part two! This sweet young couple celebrated their union with family and friends in a two-day destination wedding event that was dynamic, romantic, and a fabulous blend of the old and the new.

Destination Bliss: A Vibrant Wedding in Mexico at Villa La Joya

When it comes to planning the perfect destination wedding, there's no shortage of breathtaking locations around the world. For many couples, Mexico is the top choice for its stunning beaches, rich culture, and warm hospitality. We had the pleasure of hosting the two-day affair for newlyweds Souha and Lavan. They shared their enchanting journey of choosing Mexico as their destination wedding location and their experience at Villa la Joya in Playa del Carmen.

Why choose Mexico for your destination wedding?

"We always wanted a destination wedding, and we ended up choosing Mexico because my sister Leila lives there," Souha explained. Leila's recommendation played a crucial role in their decision-making process. She introduced them to Valentina's team, a wedding planning agency known for creating dreamy weddings in Mexico.

But why Cancun? Souha continues, "We chose Cancun because we wanted a vacation + wedding vibe for all our guests. So we all stayed together at Iberostar, and it was a wonderful vacation." The combination of a wedding celebration and a vacation in a tropical paradise was a dream come true for the couple and their guests.

The Allure of a Villa La Joya Wedding

Selecting the perfect venue can be one of the most challenging decisions in the wedding planning process. For Souha and Lavan, the choice was crystal clear. "We chose Villa La Joya because the venue is just stunning! We loved how secluded it is and the fact that it was not a resort. It is a dedicated venue for weddings, and every corner of the venue is so beautiful".

The exclusivity and charm of Villa La Joya captured the essence of their love story and created a picturesque backdrop for their special day.

Favorite Wedding Day Moments

When asked about their favorite moments from the wedding, Souha reflects on the emotional and humorous aspects of their celebration. "My favorite moment of the wedding was during the vows," she shared. "When I made Lavan believe I was going to sing for him, then said 'Just Kidding.' It was the best prank ever." Laughter and love filled the air, making for a truly memorable ceremony.

But the fun didn't stop there. "We also loved the end of day 2 when everyone was dancing and having fun," Souha adds. The joy and exuberance of their guests dancing the night away created an unforgettable atmosphere.

Traditions of old and fun twists for today

Souha and Lavan incorporated a blend of the old and the new, a mix of vibrant and pastel themes into their two-day wedding festivities. "We had our Traditional Hindu wedding, where our theme was vibrant and bright colors," Souha explains. "For Day 2, we wanted pastel colors and a cozy vibe with less traditional details."

Their creative approach to Day 2 included unique touches like serving popsicles instead of a traditional cake, providing flip-flops for guests to dance comfortably, setting up couches and lounge space, and even having a beer pong table game ready for those looking for a fun challenge.

Words of Wisdom for Future Brides

As they reminisce about their destination wedding, Souha offers some valuable advice for brides-to-be. "My advice is that this is your wedding and not your guests' wedding," she emphasizes. "Focus on making it your dream day, don't stress, and enjoy every moment during the wedding."

Furthermore, she underscores the importance of professional help, saying, "Also, most importantly, if you want a destination wedding, don't do it at a resort and HIRE WEDDING PLANNERS!" Souha and Lavan's experience with Valentina's team and the enchanting Villa La Joya exemplify how expert wedding planners can transform dreams into reality.

In the end, Souha and Lavan's choice of Mexico, Villa La Joya, and their creative approach to wedding themes left a lasting impression on all their guests. Their destination wedding was not just a celebration of their love but also an incredible vacation and an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

We send our warmest wishes for a lifetime of joy, laughter, and love to Souha and Lavan, thank you for sharing your story of love with us.

Mexico Destination Wedding: Laura & Kevin’s Boho Beautiful Day

Mexico Destination Wedding: Laura & Kevin’s Boho Beautiful Day

Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen was delighted to host the absolutely beautiful wedding of Laura and Kevin. This smart, busy couple knew what they wanted and went for it, a wedding in Mexico with all their loved ones celebrating their union by the sea. The elegant simplicity of this dreamy boho wedding day was blessed with the warmth of the Mexican sunshine and picture-perfect moments.

Romantic “first look” moments on the Villa la Joya balcony

We LOVE “first look” moments and the photos of Laura and Kevin seeing each other for the first time on their Playa del Carmen wedding day are absolutely priceless. Pure love, devotion to one another and a “forever and ever and ever” feeling that will bring a happy tear to your eye. The Villa la Joya balcony and staircases, blue skies, palm trees and the Mexican Caribbean Sea were the backdrop for the main event, Laura and Kevin gazing into each other’s eyes.

Playa del Carmen wedding ceremony: Laura and Kevin united in amor

Laura and Kevin celebrated their love and life together with a romantic wedding ceremony on the main entry stairs of Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen. We ADORED Laura’s wedding gown, lacy and flowy and oh my gosh it has pockets. Kevin wore a traditional tux with a blush bow tie, looking sharp next to his gorgeous bride. The circular arch of white roses and pampas grass and Laura’s gorgeous bouquet by Pentaflor were the perfect floral accompaniments. The wedding ceremony was moving, funny and inspiring.

Dance, dance, dance the night away: Vibrant wedding reception with all the right moves

Laura and Kevin just couldn’t hold back from letting loose on the dance floor with their funky guests. The choreographed first dance of the bride and groom was out of this world and the rest of the evening was a wild ride on the dance floor. The live saxophone player was a hit and a highlight! With beer and tequila flowing and a late snack of yummy churros from Los Pockets, the wedding reception of Laura and Kevin will be remembered by all as a legendary celebration of love.

We send our most heartfelt congratulations to Laura and Kevin, thank you so much for choosing us to play host to your Mexico destination wedding. We wish you both all the best for a lifetime of  joy together.
