Outdoor wedding ceremony spring 2023 - Flowers, Flowers Everywhere!

The fresh flowers of the season are an essential part of your spring 2023 wedding decor. Lush floral arches, wedding aisle lined with the blooms and a rose petal toss for the newlyweds exit of course. From all white to pale pastels or pops of bright color, let your imagination run wild with floral fantasies.

Floral frolic, light and fresh: Spring 2023 wedding fashion and accessories

A spring wedding is your chance to shed the layers of winter and let the sun shine in and the air caress your skin. Bridal gowns with floral accents, flowing skirts and bared shoulders or daring plunging necklines let you welcome the season in an easy breezy look. Floral hair pieces like natural crowns or loose flowers for the bride and bridal party create a fresh and romantic feel. Floral bridesmaids dresses or pastel color palettes bring the vibes of spring to your wedding fashion. The groom and his guys can get in on the spring feeling with all white suits or pastel guayaberas.

Spring 2023 wedding reception fun at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen

The knot is tied and the deed is done, now it’s time to celebrate! After your garden wedding ceremony, invite you guests to indulge in a signature cocktail as they kick back and relax during cocktail hour. Setting up cute seating areas with garden furniture and umbrellas and a floral swing for photos is sure to be a hit. Invite a unique and adorable friend like Frida the donkey who is always happy to pose with guests. Dinner and reception decor should be light, airy and fun and of course you can continue your floral theme throughout the day. Wedding cakes with fresh flowers are divine and perfect for spring. While spring weather in Playa del Carmen is generally pretty darned perfect, you can prepare for spring showers with a beautiful sky tent at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen!

Sandra and Junior Get Married in Playa del Carmen!

Sandra and Junior Get Married in Playa del Carmen!

A real Mexican wedding in Playa del Carmen, we are excited to share this beautiful “boda” with you all. Sandra and Junior are a gorgeous couple in love and we were delighted to welcome them to Villa la Joya to join together forever before their nearest and dearest family and friends. An elegant white wedding full of pretty details, great Mexican music and a whole lot of love. These stunning destination wedding photos and the story of this special day are sure to inspire you to get married in Playa del Carmen at Villa la Joya!

Playa del Carmen wedding of Sandra and Junior: From quiceñera to eternity

This lovely couple met at Sandra’s quiceñera practice and have been together ever since 2006. A love that was meant to be! We asked Sandra why they chose a destination wedding at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen and here is what she shared with us:

We chose Mexico because we always wanted a destination wedding and it’s such a beautiful place. We always vacationed together in Cancun while dating. We also wanted to bring relatives who have never been to Cancun to visit and get to know this beautiful place.

Villa la Joya is such a beautiful place…we loved that it was private and we could stay partying until midnight.

The festivities began with a fun “getting ready" session with golden balloons, champagne popping, and pizza with the ladies of the bridal party. The groomsmen helped each other with final bow tie adjustments and boutonniere placements and shared a few laughs. Bride Sandra was STUNNING in her shoulder-baring lace gown and a divine bouquet of white roses. The bridesmaids were all aglow in dusty rose gowns and the groomsmen were looking handsome in their traditional black tuxedos.

Destination wedding ceremony by the sea in Playa del Carmen

Sandra and Junior exchanged vows and became joined for eternity in this lovely Playa del Carmen wedding ceremony by the ocean. The circular arch with a backdrop of the Mexican Caribbean sea set a perfect scene for the symbolically Catholic ceremony at Villa la Joya. We loved the inclusion of loved ones who had passed with their photos displayed and special seats reserved for them to “celebrate in heaven”. After their first kiss as newlyweds and a special sand ceremony, the couple was serenaded by mariachis as they walked down the aisle as husband and wife.

Sandra and Junior: A Mexican fiesta wedding reception at Villa la Joya

Guests were welcomed to the Villa la Joya wedding reception of Sandra and Junior with a shot of tequila attached to the seating cards, a great kickoff to a grand fiesta. With a duet of guitar and harp, a Mexican duo provided music for the cocktail hour that got everyone warmed up for the night. The bridal party danced in, toasts were made and the Mexican feast was served.

The rest of the evening was a family celebration of love, with everyone on the dance floor accompanied by a Mexican band that kept the energy up all night. The newlyweds cut the cake with fireworks and the evening was a fun celebration with lots of tequila toasts, the traditional bouquet and garter toss, and a whole lot of love.

All the best to the newlyweds, que viven los novios! Big thanks for choosing Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen

We wish Sandra and Junior all the best for an incredible lifetime together. We send our big gracias for choosing to get married in Playa del Carmen and inviting us to host your destination wedding in Mexico.

Legendary Villa la Joya Wedding in Playa del Carmen

Cynthia and Sam’s Legendary Villa la Joya Wedding in Playa del Carmen

Gorgeous couple Cynthia and Sam tied the knot in an absolutely legendary and epic wedding at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen. This wedding had it all, a symbolic and meaningful religious ceremony blessed by rain, mariachis, tequila (lots of tequila), fireworks and flower girls and churros, oh my! We loved every detail of this special day and we are so grateful to Cynthia and Sam for choosing Villa la Joya!

First look with Dad, “No look” with groom: The fun starts early at this Playa del Carmen wedding

Bride Cynthia got ready for her wedding day with her bridesmaids, a big Playa del Carmen wedding party of ten beauties in pale green. Cynthia had a lovely “first look” moment with her father and a FUN “no look” moment with the groom, not seeing each other, no peeking but toasting one another with a shot of tequila!

Symbolic religious wedding ceremony in Playa del Carmen: And the Rain Came Down

We are so fortunate to host ALL kinds of weddings at Villa la Joya, big, small, we love them all. We were truly excited to be a part of Cynthia and Sam’s epic wedding reception! The rain cleared after the ceremony and the reception fun began with mariachis and esquites and cocktails all around. The wedding took place on “National Tequila Day” and the emblematic drink of Mexico was honored throughout the reception.

Dinner was served by Gourmet Soberanis and the traditional wedding toasts were made, bringing laughter and tears to the family & friends of the newlyweds. The rustic table settings were gorgeous, the fall colors in the flowers from Cherry Blossom were rich, warm and welcoming. Cynthia and Sam shared a first dance as husband and wife with fireworks, the look of love between them was magical! The rest of the evening was a high-energy party with lots of dancing and shenanigans! Apparently, the guests' comments and responses were unanimous, this was an EPIC, legendary and unforgettable wedding in Playa del Carmen.

2023 Wedding Trend Predictions

2023 Wedding Trend Predictions

2023 Wedding Trend Predictions: Plan Your Dream Wedding with These Inspirational Ideas

These 2023 wedding trend predictions come straight from our crystal ball to you! Ok, we may not be psychic but we’ve got our fingers on the pulse of the wedding world and these are the trends we think we’ll see for destination weddings in 2023. Ready to be inspired?

Bright, bold and beautiful: 2023 wedding decor that POPS

Rich purples, deep emerald greens, fun fuschia, we are expecting to see some colorful weddings this year. Of course we will still see the beautiful neutrals many brides prefer but we LOVE when Villa la Joya is full of color and light. A destination wedding in Mexico was made for colorful decor, from flowers to napkins to the sweetheart’s table, viva Mexico, viva los colores!

Unconventional wedding dresses and an eye on sustainability

2023 brides are going to bring us some GREAT surprises! The trends for 2023 wedding dresses are taking us down an unconventional path with suits and separates that can be worn again and paired with anything. Wearing a bridal gown once is not sustainable so many designers and brides are taking this into consideration. A super hot trend is bridal gowns with removable long skirts that convert to a sexy short dress for the reception and we think we‘ll be seeing a lot of sexy thigh-high slits this year!

2023 Bridesmaids dresses for destination weddings

We are going to see more and more mismatched bridesmaid dresses coming up in 2023. This is a super way to allow your bridal party to show off their own personality, giving them the freedom to choose silhouettes that best fit their bodies. The styles will be less formal and more laidback, again leaning towards sustainability and giving bridesmaids a dress they can wear again instead of just hiding it away in the closet in a garment bag.

2023 Destination Wedding Trends: Big weddings are back

The pandemic put a damper on a whole lot of wedding plans, with cancellations everywhere, and couples trying to find a way to have the wedding of their dreams during a world crisis. As travel restrictions were lifted, we saw a lot of lovely small weddings and intimate affairs with the nearest and dearest. With the world opening up again, we’re going to see some FABULOUS fiestas and a trend to the bigger weddings we used to see. Invite ALL your family and friends and celebrate with a huge party!

Wedding photos in 2023: Candids, Polaroids and Natural Light

Wedding photos in 2023 are going to be less formal and posed and more casual and candid! We can help you choose a great Playa del Carmen wedding photographer who will be the perfect fit for your big day and have a great understanding of the latest wedding trends. We are going to be seeing a lot more disposable cameras and Polaroids at 2023 weddings in Mexico, snap and instant print and enjoy the moment forever.

Tik Tok Don’t Stop: Move Over Pinterest, Tik Tok is Taking Over

The video application TikTok is THE way for young couples to look for 2023 wedding inspiration. More than just pinning a look, TikTok video creators are bringing content full of ideas, inspiration, and loads of tips and tricks for wedding planning in 2023. TikTok has been given the title “the future of wedding planning”, if you don’t have the app, download it now! Or follow our Wedding Planning TikTok for inspiration.

Wedding gift registries 2023: Move over toasters, welcome experiences!

Wedding registries of course will always have the “traditional” household items to get the newlyweds started in their new life. We are now seeing more and more registries leaning towards “experiences” rather than the consumable goods that many couples already have. Register for a dinner cruise in your hometown, a fun class for the couple to take together (salsa dancing anyone?), or a trip of a lifetime to swim with whale sharks near Cancun. There is now a big trend towards cash registries too, as simple as adding a Venmo or other money-sharing apps that make it easy for your loved ones to send a little something for the newlyweds.

What are your 2023 wedding trend predictions? Let’s turn ideas into reality with a Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen wedding!

We can’t wait to hear your ideas and help you plan your own 2023 destination wedding in paradise. Whether you are up on all the new trends or are planning a traditional wedding day, we are here to help you enjoy the perfect nuptials experience for YOUR taste and style.
