Celeste and Joshua Playa del Carmen Wedding at Villa la Joya

We are so excited to share with you this super fun Playa del Carmen wedding at Villa la Joya! Celeste and Joshua are a gorgeous couple and they make beautiful newlyweds, just check out all the stunning photos! They joined together with their closest family and friends for a dynamic celebration of love by the sea with pretty details and a whole lot of laughter and amor. We were delighted to host this very special day, Celeste and Joshua’s wedding in Playa del Carmen was an event to remember!

Destination wedding by the sea on a dreamy Mexican Caribbean day

The day began without a cloud in the sky, a perfect Playa del Carmen day for a wedding by the sea. Celeste and her bridesmaids shared champagne toasts as they got ready in their beautiful blue dresses and helped the bride into her stunning lace gown with a striking long veil. The bride shared a “first look” with her father on the steps of Villa la Joya, a moment full of warmth and love.

The bride and groom came together on the Villa la Joya balcony for a “first look” moment of their own, there were tears!! You can see by their faces the joy they are feeling and the love that flows between them, priceless photos. Groom Joshua wore a sharp beige suit with blue bow tie, a handsome look beside his beautiful bride!

Light, love and laughter in a romantic beachside wedding ceremony

With the light of the afternoon sun glowing, Celeste and Joshua exchanged vows and tied the knot forever in a romantic ceremony full of laughter and love. The wooden altar with pretty white flowers framed the couple perfectly with a backdrop of the ocean as they became husband and wife forever and ever.

After the ceremony, it was time to party! This was such a lively group and so much fun! With dinner under the fairy lights and a sweethearts table lush with roses and a light-up sign declaring LOVE, it was a perfect evening of celebration. The toasts were moving and caring and funny, this is a couple surrounded by people who love them very much and it was wonderful to share in these special moments.

Celeste and Joshua kicked off the party with newlyweds dance, then everyone hit the dance floor to get down all night long. Bow ties off and shoes tossed aside, the light-up dance floor was on fire, and we even got to see some breakdancing! A truly joyous occasion with an energy that lit up the faces of all in attendance.

We asked bride Celeste to share her thoughts with us on her Playa del Carmen wedding day at Villa la Joya….

I found Villa la Joya on Instagram. Mike the owner was very nice when I talked to him. Definitely best customer service and stunning place. It was my dream wedding.

Favorite part I will say the first look with my husband and dad… but overall everything was a beautiful and perfect. We had our family and friends together and that was such a blessing for us.

Dear future brides, enjoy the moment and the process. Don’t stress out, it can be overwhelming but at end you will have the best memories from the best day of your life.”

Big big gracias and all of our best wishes for a long and happy life together to newlyweds Celeste and Joshua!

Rachel and Alejandro get married at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen

Rachel and Alejandro get married at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen

Rachel and Alejandro get married at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen, muchas felicidades!

We were honored to host the beautiful wedding of Rachel and Alejandro at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen and we are excited to share their photos and love story with you. Weddings like this one guarantee you’ll be inspired and feeling all the romance of a fairy tale. Gorgeous bride and groom, unique details and a whole lot of love made this a wedding day we’ll never forget!

We asked the bride and groom to share their story with us, here is what they had to say:

“”One fateful evening Rachel stumbled upon a "Latino Night" in a bar and a tall, dark, and handsome Alejandro happened to catch her eye. He made a bee line to Rachel and they began talking for hours. As the night went on Rachel wondered if he was ever going to ask for her number finally, before leaving the two exchanged digits. The following day Rachel ended up moving for 2 months for a seasonal job followed by a Hawaii vacation. When Rachel returned to the Bay Area she sent Alejandro a, “Hey stranger" text. The two had their first date that week and the rest is history.”

Pretty in pink and boho chic destination wedding at Villa la Joya

There were so many incredible details about this wedding that we just loved, first off, let’s talk about that bridal gown, wow! Rachel was GLOWING in a gown that hugged all the right curves and a stunning veil that flowed and floated on the ocean breeze. Groom Alejandro was the definition of HANDSOME in his traditional tux and the expression on his face during the “First look” was absolutely priceless, pure amor for his bride.

We loved the decor for this wedding, with soft blush pink flowers and dried arrangements and wooden tables and chairs, even the pink glassware, simply divine and so unique! Pure Love Floral Design knocked this one out of the park, the altar, the table settings, and of course the bouquets, out of this world. Working together with Paradise Wedding Planners, Villa la Joya turned into a magical world of romance.

What made you decide on Villa La Joya?

“Scouting Instagram for hours during the height of the pandemic we kept finding ourselves back on the Villa La Joya Instagram page. We were so drawn to the elegance of the venue and the beauty of the ocean as the backdrop. We knew immediately this would be our venue.”

Laughter, tears and a grand celebration of love for Rachel and Alejandro

With a moving and emotional ceremony and lots of laughter during the toasts, the family and friends of Rachel and Alejandro made this a grand celebration of love with champagne toasts and tears of joy. The father/daughter dance on the light-up dance floor was a beautiful moment to cherish. With shots and champagne and a whole lot of dancing, even a little rain couldn't dampen the spirits of this incredible day.

“Exchanging our personal vows definitely has to be our favorite moment from the day. Rachel was even able to do some of her vows in Spanish. It also rained on our wedding day and we loved how our guests embraced the rain! It came down right as our last song played, it was such a magical moment!”

We send all our love and huge congratulations to the newlyweds and we thank you for inviting us to share in your Playa del Carmen wedding day! We see a bright future for you and wish you all the best for a life full of joy together.

To Veil or Not to Veil: Villa la Joya Weddings Bridal Inspiration

The history of the wedding veil is long and varied and means different things in different cultures and religions. While for many the veil is a symbol of purity and innocence, for others it has evolved into a fashion statement that signifies whatever the bride wants it to! A wedding veil adds an element of mystery and magic but is it right for you?

Once in a lifetime, when else do you get to wear a pretty veil?

The beauty of the bridal veil is that it is unique, a once in a lifetime chance to live out every girl’s dream. How many little girls pranced around with towels on their head playing bride? If you’ve always envisioned yourself in a long flowing veil, then just go for it! It’s your big day and it’s an opportunity you only get once.

Con: Outdoor weddings, wind and veils can be complicated!

While we envision our veils blowing lightly in the breeze, unfortunately, we can’t control the weather! A strong wind can interfere with your veil look getting caught up in the decor and creating a hazard! Stay away from candles and be careful with which way the wind blows!

Pro: Use the wind in your veil to create epic destination wedding photos

The breeze in your veil can be a benefit and not a hindrance if you get it blowing the right way! An ocean breeze and the veil floating and flowing from a gorgeous bride, some of the best wedding photos we’ve seen come with a beautiful veil moment. The best Playa del Carmen wedding photographers know exactly how to capture these moments when the wind and light is just perfect and the veil frames the bride’s beauty like magic.

Sweet Caribbean Photo

The big reveal! A wedding veil creates drama and romance

The traditional “reveal” of the bride at the altar with the lifting of the veil is the fairy tale moment you’ve been waiting for. Everyone’s heart is aflutter as the veil is lifted to reveal the beautiful bride, the groom at her side at the altar with a look of wonder. Locking eyes with love, a magical moment when the veil is lifted, pure romance!

Many couples choose to do a “first look” photo shoot and a veil is the PERFECT accessory for amazing photos. The groom awaits on the Villa la Joya balcony and the bride glows, inviting her love to look beneath the veil and share an intimate moment of pure amor.

Con: Wedding veils are just too fussy for a destination wedding outdoors

A wedding veil can be a bother, a nuisance that causes more anxiety than peace. It’s another accessory that you need to pack and then preserve without crushing. Veils can blow in your face at exactly the wrong moment and become a negative focal point if you can’t say your vows with lace in your face. Many of our Villa la Joya brides are looking for a “less fussy” experience in a destination wedding and a wedding veil is just “too much” for the themes of our outdoor weddings with a more laid-back vibe.

Wedding veils can change up your bridal look from ceremony to reception

Your wedding day is your chance to shine and a wardrobe change is a fun way to show off your style. A veil is a great way to change up your look throughout the day. A long veil for the ceremony can be changed to a shorter veil look, a tiara or a whole new hairstyle with bling or flowers for the reception. Veil on, veil off, it’s up to you gorgeous bride!

Are you inspired by these Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen wedding photos? Are you Team Veil or Team Not to Veil? Will you wear a veil to your own beach wedding in Playa del Carmen? Contact us today and let us know, we LOVE hearing both sides of the debate and can’t wait to hear your ideas and make your destination wedding in Mexico a dream come true.

Crazy in Love: Mariya and Dimitri Get Married in Mexico

Gorgeous couple Mariya and Dimitri are crazy in love and it shows! We can’t wait to inspire you with their real wedding in Mexico photos and love story! They were united forever surrounded by their closest family and friends in a white wedding at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen, let’s meet the newlyweds.

Love at First Sight and a Dream Wedding in Mexico

We asked Mariya to share their tale with us, we adore a story of love at first sight:

“Dmitry and I met at our friend’s house. Our first date was incredible, he picked me up on a sport bike and showed me the city of Ottawa and nearby areas. Later in the evening, we watched the sunset from the top of the mountain at an altitude of 355 meters. That natural beauty of Gatineau Park will forever stay in my heart. We fell in love with each other and never separated from that day onwards.”

What made you decide on a Mexico wedding at Villa La Joya Playa del Carmen?

“We browsed the internet for days in search of our perfect destination wedding location. When we saw Villa La Joya's website, gorgeous pictures of the villa, and such a breathtaking view of the ocean, we knew right away that this is the one and only location we want. That was literally our "dreams come true" moment.”

It was a nice day for a white wedding in Mexico at Villa la Joya

We loved all the details of this beautiful wedding, all in white and blush and gold, simply magic with the backdrop of the blue Mexican Caribbean. The flowers were lush and abundant, the geometric altar framed the ceremony perfectly. Bride Mariya was glowing in a stunning veil and a dress that showed off her enviable figure and groom Dimitri looked super sharp in white, loved the suspenders! With guests in white, it was a nice day for a white wedding indeed!

An intimate destination wedding in Mexico, the day was full of emotion and love and delicious treats. The caterers did a magnificent job, the sweets table was a huge hit. The flowers by Cherry Blossom were tropical and fun, we loved the set up with the neon “Crazy in Love” sign for photo ops and the floating lantern bouquets.

Lighting up the night with a joyous wedding reception in Mexico at Villa la Joya

Newlyweds Mariya and Dimitri sure know how to throw a great party, this was a joyous wedding reception in Mexico at Villa la Joya! Bride Mariya knocked us out with her second look of the day, a two-piece white bridal ensemble that was perfect for a destination wedding reception and dancing all night long. With a light-up dance floor and flowing drinks, a grand time was had by all and the bride and groom showed everyone how to get down and boogie when you are “crazy in love”.

We would like to thank Mariya and Dimitri for inviting us to host their wedding at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen, it was an honor and a pleasure. We wish you both all the best for a lifetime of continued joy and happiness.

Melissa and Nick Get Married: Real Family Wedding in Mexico

High school sweethearts Melissa and Nick brought their families together for a celebration of love at their Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen wedding. A traditional Catholic ceremony with the blessings of all who love them followed by an unforgettable party at poolside, we are so grateful to Melissa and Nick for allowing us to host this truly moving real family wedding in Mexico. Let’s have a look and get inspired!

Getting ready and the “First Look”: Intimate wedding moments at Villa la Joya with Melissa and Nick

Some of the most important moments of a wedding day happen when you least realize it, the straightening of a tie or the adjustment of the veil. Getting ready with the bridal party is a wonderful time to celebrate the love of family and friends and this amor shone through with bride and groom Melissa and Nick.

Bride Melissa was absolutely stunning with her natural dark looks and hair and makeup by Hello Beauty MX. We LOVED her bridal gown, perfect for a beach wedding, the diamondback style was a knockout. The moment with her son under the veil was totally priceless. Groom Nick was looking a little nervous before the “First Look” moment, adjusting his tuxedo before his bride came and took his breath away. We love these moments.

Traditional religious ceremony destination wedding and real blessings of love

The traditional ceremony of Melissa and Nick was just gorgeous, Padre Jose V Arruda officiated and invited all in attendance to share their blessings upon the couple. Attended by bridesmaids in elegant champagne gowns and groomsmen in formal tuxedos, Melissa and Nick declared their love and united their families forever.

The portrait session after the ceremony was such a delight, so many genuine smiles and a whole lot of laughter around the grounds of Villa la Joya. The flowers by Cherry Blossom were abundant and beautiful, fresh white blooms and tropical sprays, divine! The family shots of Melissa Nick and their precious son are simply magical.

It’s not a Mexican wedding without mariachis and tequila! Celebration time at this Villa la Joya reception

Mariachis are a must for a grand Mexican celebration of love, with a table set up with shots of tequila it’s the best way to kick off a Mexico wedding reception. The tables were set with more beautiful flowers from Cherry Blossom and the cake by La Migaja was a stunning masterpiece. Melissa and Nick sure know how to throw a party!

We LOVED the ideas for a family-friendly destination wedding, with a kids’ table just their size with special activities and a tent for “resting”, the kids were VIP guests for sure.

We send mucho amor and much gratitude to Melissa and Nick and their guests, we had a wonderful time hosting your real Mexico wedding at Villa la Joya! We wish you all the best for a magnificent lifetime together as a happy family!
