Katy & Justin’s Private Villa Wedding in the Riviera Maya
Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen set the scene for the romantic wedding day of Katy and Justin. This sweet couple from Texas met in 2017, hanging out every day since, traveling together to Cancun and falling head over heels and deciding to spend forever together. Their shared love of Mexico made choosing a Riviera Maya private villa wedding an easy decision and we were so glad to welcome them and their loved ones to Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen.
What made you decide on a Villa La Joya private venue wedding in the Riviera Maya?
We asked Katy why they chose a Villa la Joya private wedding and she kindly shared her thoughts with us:
The only thing I was dead set on about having a wedding in Mexico was that I wanted a totally private venue. We’ve been to many resorts around the world, and have seen weddings happen with tons of people in the background watching. I started researching “private venues in Riviera Maya” and only a couple came up. Villa La Joya was definitely the most beautiful and I booked on the spot without even visiting! Justin and I took a trip down to Mexico two month laters, and we knew we picked the perfect place.

The photos of Katy and Justin’s big day tell an amazing story and are sure to inspire your own wedding daydreams. We loved the bride and her party getting ready in their adorable black and white short dresses, a striking combination, the photos are super fun. Bride Katy glowed in her ballerina tulle bridal gown and the handsome groom Justin wore a dapper blue suit. Their first look moment brought a tear to our eyes! The bridal party fashion was an ode to shades of blue, from dark to light and in a variety of styles showing off the uniqueness of each bridesmaid.
The ceremony by the sea was emotional and moving, the families joining together in love. The setting of white and blush flowers, dark woods and lush greens framed the newlyweds perfectly. The casual seating areas and the live saxophone for cocktails got everyone in the mood for a fabulous private venue wedding reception in the Riviera Maya.
Toasts, tears, laughter and churros: A grand time was had by all at the Riviera Maya wedding reception of Katy and Justin!
As the sun went down, the party really got started. The toasts had everyone laughing and crying and the bonds of family and friend love shone through. The dance floor was on fire and everyone enjoyed the churro treats to refuel for more boogie. Katy and Justin’s send off with sparklers was a great way to top off the magical day.
Everyone says the day goes by so fast, and it was true! The most emotional moments had to be the first look before the ceremony with both my dad and with Justin. It hit all of us in that moment that we were officially going to be married and our families would be joined together. I would recommend a first look to any bride and groom as it was really special to experience before the day began. The funniest moment had to be Justin carrying our leftover wedding cake back to the resort after the wedding and dancing with the cake late into the night!
