Playa del Carmen Wedding at Villa la Joya :: Aline & Patrick

Playa del Carmen Wedding at Villa la Joya :: Aline & Patrick

Playa del Carmen Wedding at Villa la Joya | Aline and Patrick

The Playa del Carmen wedding of Aline and Patrick was a day full of joy, vibrant energy and a whole lot of love! We adored every single detail of this Villa la Joya wedding, from the lush florals to the sweet treat desserts, live music and fireworks, we can’t stop looking at the photos.

Beautiful bride Aline was kind enough to share their love story and her thoughts with us on planning their destination wedding at Villa la Joya, we hope you feel inspired!

The Love Story: Can you tell us the tale of how you two met?

Pat and I lived in many different cities in the US, and we ended up meeting in Houston, Texas when I was moving there from Chicago and Pat was actually leaving Houston to go to Alabama. Working for the same company complicated things at the beginning and eventually we decided to surrender to our feelings and became a couple.

Why did you choose a destination wedding in Mexico?

México was a great halfway distance between both families, Brazil and the US.

Pat and I had been in Mexico together before and we love the hospitality, the amazing food and of course, the breathtaking views of the ocean.

It was also the perfect destination that best enabled us to have some Latin and some American options. Our wedding was the perfect mix of the two cultures.

What made you decide on a Villa La Joya Playa del Carmen wedding?

It’s impossible not to fall in love with Villa la Joya when you first see it, even if it’s through online images. The venue is impeccable, gorgeous, spacious and very elegant.

We loved the idea of hiring and deciding who our vendors are without the hassle of additional fees. And we also enjoyed the flexibility that we gave to our guests to decide where they would like to stay in Playa del Carmen.

When we visited Villa La Joya, prior to the wedding, we couldn’t believe how real the beauty of the place really was. It was an emotional but reassuring feeling that Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen was the place we wanted to have the most special day of our lives.

What was your favorite/most emotional or funniest moment of your Villa la Joya wedding day?

As a couple, we both enjoyed the intimacy of the first look. Such a special moment, and the venue is just perfect. Villa la Joya creates such a romantic ambiance. We loved being able to see everything being set up from the balcony upstairs and all while we were just seeing each other for the first time.

The dance floor was definitely the most fun we had that entire night. Different cultures coming together to party and celebrate our union.

Any advice you’d like to share with other Villa la Joya brides?

“Do the pre-wedding visit. Go to the venue, experience it for what it is without being set up for the wedding day. Meet vendors there and just really enjoy the wedding planning phase. It goes by so quick, but it is a memory you’ll never forget.”

Felicidades a los novios, congratulations to the newlyweds!

We would like to thank Aline and Patrick and their guests for inviting us to host such a fantastic wedding at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen. We wish you both a lifetime of happiness together full of joy, laughter and abundance.

Special thanks to all the wonderful Playa del Carmen wedding vendors who put together the details that made this an event to remember. Contact us today to start planning your dream wedding in Mexico!

7 Hot Ways to Stay Cool at your Beach Wedding

7 Hot Ways to Stay Cool at your Beach Wedding

7 Hot Ways to Stay Cool at your Beach Wedding in Playa del Carmen

When we peruse photos of a beach wedding in Playa del Carmen with the white sands, turquoise sea, and sun shining through swaying palm trees, the one thing we can’t see is the tropical heat of the destination. Keeping your guests cool, especially in summer months, is an important part of planning your big day. Formal wear isn’t really designed for the tropics, so we bring you 7 hot ways to stay cool at your beach wedding in Playa del Carmen at Villa la Joya!

Personalized fans are an easy-breezy way to keep guests cool

A simple straw fan or an elaborately embroidered masterpiece, providing hand fans for your beach wedding guests is always appreciated. This is a great way to integrate your wedding theme into a useful and beautiful souvenir too! We can help you find the best local vendors for custom fans or incredible pieces of authentic Mexican handicrafts.

Put the lime in the coconut, drink them both up!

Coconut water is known to be THE best remedy for dehydration. At a beach wedding in Playa del Carmen, hydrating your guests is essential and a coconut water station with adorable personalized cocos is a great way to stay cool. Rinse the cocos and take them home, perfect wedding favors too!

No metal chairs, ever! Beach wedding no no!

When selecting your beach wedding decor and rentals, you may be tempted by sleek-looking modern metal or intricate filigree looks but let us tell you. NO. Just say no to metal chairs at your Villa La Joya wedding, keep your guests comfy and cozy in softer fabrics with no burny bits.

Elegant Panama hats for beach weddings, keep those noggins cool!

An elegant Panama hat is the ideal fashion statement when keeping cool at a beach wedding. Keeping the sun off your head is important to help avoid overheating and your guests will appreciate the cool look. Hat bands in your wedding colors keep everything in the theme of course!

Shaded lounge areas

Your Villa La Joya beach wedding decor should include shaded lounge areas where your guests can relax out of the heat of the sun. Pretty umbrellas, palm fronds, palapa roofs, fabric canopies, you can create any look you like for your oasis in the cool shade.

Water stations, “aguas frescas” for a refreshing Mexican touch

“Aguas frescas” or “fresh waters” are naturally flavored with various fruits and flowers, typically found on every family’s table in Mexico. Lemonade, jamaica (hibiscus flower), and “horchata” (rice drink) are the most popular and your guests will LOVE this refreshing and non-alcoholic option to hydrate.

Bar close to reception area, a chilly cocktail can’t be beat

We know it’s not all hydration to stay cool, there is something about an icy cold beer or a perfect margarita that just can’t be beat. We recommend setting up your bar close to the reception area to make it convenient for your guests to enjoy a chilly beverage  and keep on dancing.

Mexico Destination Wedding at Villa la Joya | Gaby & Nando

Mexico Destination Wedding at Villa la Joya | Gaby & Nando

Mexico Destination Wedding at Villa la Joya - Gaby and Nando

The Mexico destination wedding at Villa la Joya of Gaby and Nando was a dynamic celebration full of color and fun and of course, mucho amor! This super couple met through mutual friends in Houston and are now happily united forever as husband and wife! We were delighted to host their Mexico destination wedding and we are happy to share this real wedding experience to inspire future brides and to share the love of Gaby and Nando.

We asked Gaby why the couple chose a Mexico destination wedding and she said:

We love Mexico and their food. And since we are from Nicaragua and Bolivia, it was the perfect way to bring together our family and friends and still have a taste of our Latin culture.”

The Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen are perfect for Mexico destination weddings when bringing family from different corners of the world, the international airport, frequent flights and world-class accommodations make it an ideal destination to unite in love.

Mexico Private Villa Wedding: Gaby and Nando Tie the Knot at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen

Gaby and Nando were such fun, young and bright and oh so in love with a beautiful future ahead of them. We LOVED Gaby’s “bridal kicks”, super cute choice instead of heels for a long day of being on your feet and dancing and her off the shoulder dress was divine! Nando looked sharp in his blue suit and the ceremony at the grand entrance of Villa la Joya was simply perfect, beautiful and moving.

Gaby and Nando’s Villa la Joya Mexico Destination Wedding: Why Villa la Joya?

Why choose a wedding at Villa la Joya? Bride Gaby tells us “The beach views and terrace were the perfect backdrop for the wedding we envisioned. Since it’s a private home, we were able to bring the vendors we wanted and keep everything private and custom.”

After the wedding ceremony in the front, the party moved to the beachside of Villa la Joya for a fiesta and celebration of love that had everyone on the dance floor. Fireworks lit up the night sky, photographic memories captured by the custom neon sign and a wonderful time was had by all. We extend our gratitude with a big MUCHAS GRACIAS to Gaby and Nando for sharing this beautiful day with us at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen.

Riviera Maya Wedding at Villa la Joya | Jillian & Marko

Riviera Maya Wedding at Villa la Joya | Jillian & Marko

Riviera Maya Wedding at Villa la Joya of Jillian & Marko

The Riviera Maya wedding at Villa la Joya of Jillian and Marko was a family celebration of LOVE and we are delighted to share this real wedding with you. This is one of those perfect wedding days we always remember, full of love, light and authentic joy with unique details creating a magical setting.

Jillian and Marko chose a destination wedding in Mexico in order to have an extended celebration with their family and friends. With pre-wedding events like a catamaran cruise at sunset, it was the ideal way to bring everyone together and create memories for a lifetime. Everybody had time to really get to know one another and the wedding day itself was an intimate and cozy event full of warmth and amor.

Riviera Maya Private Villa Wedding: First Look and the World Disappears

Bride Jillian is truly stunning and ST Makeup Artistry of Playa del Carmen created a makeup and hair design that enhanced all her natural beauty. Her incredible dress from Pronovias was a unique geometric masterpiece, elegant and sexy! The “first look” photos with Marko looking handsome in his grey suit and pink tie are priceless. Bride and groom saw each other in their wedding finery and the world simply disappeared as they gazed into each other’s eyes. Swoon.

Jillian and Marko’s Villa la Joya Riviera Maya Wedding: Geometry and Color Pops

We love working with Paradise Wedding and Events, they are tops in Riviera Maya wedding coordinators. They worked together with Cherry Blossom Florists in setting the scene for love at Jillian and Marko’s wedding at Villa la Joya. We absolutely ADORED the geometric arch at the altar with the pops of color from the variety of pink flowers. The geometric patterns from the dress repeated in the decor was marvelous.

The ceremony was a family affair with Jillian’s brother officiating, making it very personal and touching (yes, we always have tissues of course). Pretty little flower girls and handsome ring bearers for “security”, bridesmaids in gorgeous teal gowns and moving vows, thank you to Jillian and Marko for sharing this moment with us.

Riviera Maya Private Villa Wedding: Villa la Joya Vendor Shout Outs

The Riviera Maya wedding continued with a visit from Frida the donkey, a delicious dinner catered by Gourmet Soberanis, dessert by Los Pockets and a party on the dance floor with Plug In Audiovisual keeping it grooving. The photos by Paradise Photo Studio are inspiring, they captured all the love and special moments. We send big thanks to all our Riviera Maya wedding vendors who are always SO incredible to work with and of course, please remember there are never any vendor fees at Villa la Joya!

We wish Jillian and Marko all the best for a lifetime of happiness together. Thank you for inviting Villa la Joya to host your Riviera Maya wedding, it was an honor and a pleasure.
