Isabel & Adam’s Composed Villa la Joya Wedding

Isabel & Adam’s Composed Villa la Joya Wedding

A Mexico Destination Wedding at Villa la Joya

In late 2025, Isabel and Adam gathered their family and friends at Villa la Joya for a wedding that knew exactly what it wanted to be. Every choice felt considered, the palette, the details, the pace of the day, and underneath all of it, the amor was unmistakable. You can see it in every photo.

Timeless Wedding Style with Thoughtful Details

Isabel wore a fitted lace gown with a sweetheart neckline and a long veil, her hair loose and flowing, a look that suited the ease of a Riviera Maya wedding without losing any of its polish. The lace bodice deserves its own mention: intricate, delicate, the kind of detail you notice more the closer you get.

Adam kept it classic in a black tuxedo and matching bow tie. Next to Isabel, exactly right.

The bridesmaids brought warmth to the palette in rich mauve satin, carrying bouquets of ivory, blush, soft pink, and deep burgundy with seasonal greenery. Isabel's own cascading bouquet echoed the same tones, soft neutrals grounded by that deep burgundy, tying the whole design together before the ceremony even began.

A Ceremony Framed by Villa la Joya’s Grand Entrance

Isabel and Adam exchanged vows on the grand entrance staircase, the villa's Mediterranean architecture rising behind them. Ivory draping softened the stone archway, and the florals carried the wedding palette right up to the altar.

One detail worth pausing on: each cane-back chair held a white folding fan. Small, practical, considered, the kind of gesture that tells guests someone thought about their afternoon, not just their photos.

Midway through the ceremony came a moment that quieted everyone. Adam presented his mother with a pair of traditional wedding ducks, wrapped in red and blue fabric, a gesture of gratitude rooted in East Asian tradition. Mandarin ducks mate for life, which is why they've long symbolized fidelity and a marriage in balance. The red and blue of the wrapping carries its own meaning: two different forces coming together in harmony.

A thank-you to his mother, a promise for his own marriage, and a piece of family heritage honored on the villa's staircase, all in one quiet exchange.

Wedding Reception Overlooking the Caribbean Sea

As evening settled in, guests moved to the oceanfront terrace for dinner beneath café lights. Long tables kept the conversation flowing, while Isabel and Adam took their place at a head table surrounded by their closest people.

Waiting on each plate was a personalized letter — one for every single guest, written by the couple themselves. Wax-sealed envelopes on handmade paper, each with a name on it. For a few minutes before dinner, the whole terrace went quiet. People read slowly. Some laughed. More than a few reached for their napkins for reasons that had nothing to do with the meal.

It's one thing to invite people to travel across the world for your wedding. It's another to hand each of them a reason, in writing, why you wanted them there.

Soft candlelight, elegant white linens, lush floral arrangements, and the Caribbean Sea created a relaxed atmosphere where heartfelt speeches, laughter, and countless toasts carried throughout the evening.

A Wedding Cake with a Sweet Surprise

Wedding cake or doughnuts? Isabel and Adam's guests didn't have to choose. Beside the tiered cake stood a full doughnut tower, a playful counterpoint to an otherwise composed evening, and proof that refined and fun were never competing.

A Reception Dress Made for Dancing

Later in the night, Isabel reappeared in a short reception dress covered in cascading floral appliqués that moved with every step. The dance floor got the message. Music, laughter, and a party that carried well into the evening.

Isabel & Adam’s Villa la Joya Wedding

A ceremony on the grand staircase. Dinner beside the Caribbean. A doughnut tower and a dress made for dancing. Isabel and Adam's late 2025 wedding was thoughtful where it counted and joyful everywhere else, and we were honored to host it.

Jacqueline & Brett’s Villa la Joya Wedding

Jacqueline & Brett’s Villa la Joya Wedding

Every detail of Jacqueline & Brett’s day at Villa la Joya felt effortlessly elegant, tropical, and timeless all at once. This is an inspirational real wedding in the fabulous destination of Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

A Seaside Ceremony with Heart and Style

The ceremony took place in the seaside garden beneath a rectangular wooden arch overflowing with white roses, orchids, and lush greenery. When the vows were sealed, Brett couldn’t help himself—his triumphant fist-pump and huge smile said everything. It was a moment of pure happiness, met with laughter and applause from family and friends.

Jacqueline was breathtaking in her off-the-shoulder lace gown, her blonde curls softly framing her glowing face and striking blue eyes. Brett looked equally sharp in a tailored blue three-piece suit, the color perfectly complementing the tropical backdrop.

Bold Bridesmaids & a Pop of Color

Jacqueline’s bridesmaids proved that matching dresses are officially back in style. Each wore a rust-red gown that stood out beautifully against the turquoise sea. Their bouquets of white anthuriums, orchids, and tropical greenery tied the look together with natural elegance. The groomsmen matched the vibe in blue suits and terracotta ties—cohesive, timeless, and totally cool. There is something so elegant about matching wedding party attire.

Natural Details & Laid-Back Cocktail Hour

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour in a cozy lounge area featuring light wood furniture, beige fabrics, and woven accents. The setup struck the perfect balance between natural and refined, creating an atmosphere of effortless sophistication.

Each reception table was dressed in rustic-chic details: woven chargers, crisp white plates, and burnt terracotta napkins. Votives added warmth to the tablescape, while centerpieces of white orchids and lush tropical foliage tied the décor to the surrounding garden and sea views.

Dinner, Toasts & Dancing Under the Stars

Dinner flowed into heartfelt toasts that mixed laughter with a few happy tears. But once the live rock band started playing, Villa la Joya transformed into an epic open-air party. The pool glowed with floating candles, string lights danced above the terrace, and guests filled the dance floor with energy, tequila, and joy.

It was the perfect mix of elegance and celebration—the kind of night where shoes disappear, laughter carries on the breeze, and everyone agrees: this was the best wedding ever.

Congratulations to the Newlyweds

Congratulations, Jacqueline & Brett! The entire Villa la Joya team sends you our warmest wishes for a lifetime of happiness, laughter, and adventures together. Thank you for letting us be part of such a beautiful celebration.

Alexandra and Xavier Get Married in Mexico

Alexandra and Xavier Get Married in Mexico

High school sweethearts Alexandra and Xavier celebrated their 10th anniversary with a wedding in Mexico at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen. Romantic and timeless, surrounded by the love of family and friends, this real wedding love story by the sea touched our hearts, ready to be inspired?

Interview with a destination wedding bride: Alexandra shares her experience and planning tips

Why choose Mexico for your destination wedding? What is your theme and dream decor? What is your inspiration for choosing Villa la Joya as your Playa del Carmen wedding venue? We really want to know and we ask all our couples to answer a few questions about their experience planning a wedding in Mexico.

Alexandra and Xavier were super lovely in every way and kindly agreed to a little question and answer. We loved their responses and so will you, helpful info, a romantic tale, and a wealth of pretty pictures.

Why did you choose Mexico for your destination wedding?:

We had vacationed in Mexico 3 years prior (2019) to celebrate our dating anniversary and absolutely loved it. From the weather, to the beaches, to the people, and the food we loved everything about it. When we began wedding planning we wanted to do something more unique as neither of our families or friends had been to a destination wedding and we also wanted to be able to spend more quality time with our guests. For these reasons, we decided to do a destination wedding and deciding on Mexico was a no-brainer. We wanted our family and friends to experience all the things we loved about Mexico.

What made you choose Villa La Joya Playa del Carmen for your wedding venue?:

Initially when looking for a wedding venue the most important thing we looked for was privacy. This is what led us to look into private venues as opposed to hotels. Then when we found Villa La Joya, we did a site visit as well, and it checked off all of our boxes. Absolutely stunning both outside and inside, overlooking the water, no outside vendor fees, and the nicest staff. We also did not want to be in the sand. Additionally, it was very convenient to be able to rent out the condo nearby to get ready.

Timeless elegance and romance and oh those fabulous florals

Tell us about your wedding theme/inspiration:

The inspiration was romantic yet timeless. Alexandra's favorite season is Fall because of the colors of the tree leaves. So we went with a muted fall colors inspiration for the florals.

Alexandra and Xavier turned the garden of Villa la Joya into their own personal paradise with the help of the best Playa del Carmen wedding vendors. The ceremony featured a gorgeous display of flowers by Luis Salas Floral Experience. The asymmetrical arch at the altar was magnificent. Bride and groom shared a magical kiss after tying the knot and walked down the aisle bedecked in petals

Cozy cocktail hour and unforgettable destination wedding reception

While the newlyweds posed for their wedding portraits with White Crown Photography, family and friends enjoyed champagne, cocktails, and hors d'oeuvres. The cocktail hour seating area included welcoming white couches with splashes of blue and gold, the color theme a delightful contrast to the softness of the flowers.

Anything you would have done differently in planning your destination wedding day?:

The only thing we would have done differently is scheduled more time for family portraits on the inside of the villa. We got family portraits outside of the villa but the inside of the Villa is stunning so we wanted more pictures of it but forgot to mention it to our wedding planner.

Thanks, Alexandra, great tip! Scheduling your wedding shot list with your Playa del Carmen wedding photographers and planners is an important task to ensure you get all the photos you have in mind in the time you have available.

The lively reception included great food, as always Gourmet Soberanis catering in Playa del Carmen knocked it out of the park. We adored the sweetheart table, the floating florals in the pool, the chandeliers, the personalized dance floor, the fireworks, and the churros, the whole reception was a delight for the senses. All the details and decor were gorgeous but it was the unforgettable speeches that really made this a night to remember.

Do you have a favorite most/emotional or funniest moment of your wedding day?:

Other than getting married, our most emotional moments were during the speeches our family and friends made. Neither of us normally enjoys speeches because, to be quite frank, we tend to find them boring. But our friends and family poured their hearts out and we, as well as our guests, were a bucket of tears.

The funniest moment of our wedding was when our guests lifted Xavier into the air on a chair and then accidentally dropped him.

Destination wedding in Mexico: Advice from a real bride experience

Advice for other brides planning a wedding in Mexico?:

Do whatever is going to make you and your fiance the happiest. Only invite people who genuinely care and love you as individuals and support your relationship. You are not only going to be seeing them on your wedding day but be spending time with them at the hotel you choose to stay at. Therefore, you want to be able to enjoy their company. Secondly, get a good wedding planner. I definitely recommend Natalia from Weddings on the Beach.

The staff at Villa La Joya, shout out to Enrique, were the nicest people and made everything run so smoothly. Our guests were even complimenting on how great they were. We really enjoyed our wedding thanks to all of the staff at Villa La Joya and all of the amazing vendors. We'd like to thank everyone for all of their hard work and appreciate the genuine care they put into our wedding.

Thank you, mil gracias and wishes for a lifetime of joy together!

From all of us at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen, we send our enormous appreciation to Alexandra and Xavier for choosing us as their wedding venue in Mexico. It was lovely to meet you and share your big day with your amazing family and friends. Your future is bright and full of joy together, we can see it by the way you gaze into each other’s eyes with so much love.

As always, we send our gratitude to the BEST wedding vendors in Playa del Carmen who brought the vision to life. Creative and professional, we enjoy working with you all so much, muchas gracias.
