A formal Riviera Maya wedding with white roses, family tradition, and a reception that turned into a full fiesta.

Diana and Hugo chose Villa la Joya for their intimate destination wedding, bringing their closest family and friends together for a celebration by the Caribbean Sea. Their vision was wonderfully simple: black and white, beautiful flowers, great music and plenty of time to enjoy the people around them.

And while the décor was understated, the party certainly wasn't.

Black-Tie Style With a Little Swagger

Diana was gorgeous in a fitted ivory wedding gown with delicate spaghetti straps, intricate floral lace and a softly flared skirt. A long, flowing veil added drama to the silhouette, while her dark hair fell in loose, natural waves. Crispin Beauty created a polished bridal makeup look that highlighted her features without overwhelming them.

Her bridesmaids wore champagne satin dresses in different styles, each carrying a single long-stemmed white rose. The soft golden fabric looking especially good against the tropical greenery.

Let's talk about that white tuxedo. Hugo wore a white dinner jacket with contrasting black satin lapels, black trousers and a bow tie. His groomsmen complemented his look in classic black tuxedos, creating a striking contrast in the portraits taken around Villa la Joya's grand entrance and tropical gardens.

Even the youngest members of the wedding party dressed for the occasion. A handsome little ring bearer wore a miniature black tuxedo, while two flower girls carried wicker baskets decorated with ribbons.

Diana and Hugo asked their guests to wear black too, a simple dress code that pulled the whole celebration into one coordinated look.

A Ceremony on Villa la Joya's Entrance Staircase

For their ceremony, Diana and Hugo chose one of Villa la Joya's most striking architectural features: the grand entrance staircase.

Priola created an all-white floral design featuring roses, orchids, delicate blossoms and airy greenery. Lush floral arrangements framed the staircase, while natural wood cross-back chairs brought warmth to the setting.

The result was elegant without being overly elaborate, allowing the villa's architecture and the couple themselves to take center stage.

And then came Hugo’s reaction to seeing Diana. The photographs catch him wiping away tears while she smiles beside him, followed by a tender ceremony and an emotional first kiss as newlyweds.

Mariachi, Cocktails and a Little Mexican Flair

Following the ceremony, guests gathered around Villa la Joya's pool and gardens for cocktails accompanied by live mariachi music from Serenata Mexicana.

Dressed in traditional white charro suits, the musicians played as guests mingled, enjoyed drinks and started the dancing early.

Diana and Hugo included a playful tribute to their dogs in the cocktail menu, with drinks named El Ace and El Jax and illustrated portraits of their four-legged companions.

A breathtaking personal detail was a Don Julio tequila bottle decorated with intricate, colorful beadwork featuring the couple's names. A piece of real Mexican craftsmanship, and a personal touch nobody forgot.

White Roses and Seaside Dining

The reception unfolded in the seaside terrace, the Caribbean and the ocean breeze setting the scene for dinner. Long banquet tables wore crisp white linen, the wood cross-back chairs carrying over from the ceremony.

Instead of large floral centerpieces, Priola arranged individual white roses in clear glass vases along the tables, their stems rising above softly gathered white fabric. The effect was delicate and romantic, with the natural textures of the wood chairs and the turquoise sea adding warmth and color.

Diana and Hugo's sweetheart table overlooked the ocean, framed by tall white floral arrangements and a generous display of flowers cascading toward the terrace.

As evening came on, strings of lights stretched above the garden and softened the whole setting for a relaxed dinner with family and friends.

Heartfelt Speeches and a Celebration Full of Family

Family members stood to share their speeches, bringing laughter and more than a few tears to the sweetheart table and everyone around it.

The smaller guest list made the evening deeply personal, parents, relatives, friends, and children all in it together. The photographs hold the warmth of a Mexican family wedding, several generations gathered to celebrate Diana and Hugo.

And once the speeches wrapped, it was time to turn up the music.

From Mariachi to Tamborazo: A Mexican Family Fiesta

As the evening continued, Banda M2 brought the unmistakable sound of tamborazo to Villa la Joya. Trumpets, saxophone and drums filled the terrace, and the dance floor became the place to be.

This was a family party in the truest sense. Grandmothers, tías, cousins, friends and children of all ages joined the dancing. The little ones were right in the middle of the action, surrounded by adults who were having just as much fun.

Hugo had traded his white tuxedo jacket for rolled-up sleeves, while Diana danced beside him in her lace wedding gown. Between the live music, laughter and enthusiastic dancing, there was no shortage of energy.

Fireworks closed the night, red and gold bursts over the villa.

From Hugo’s tears at the ceremony to the last dances of the night, Diana and Hugo’s wedding was a gathering of generations, full of affection, Mexican tradition, and family joy.
